9.1.12 – Clyde McKay River Hike/Walk

At the urging of our friend LeighAnne, Laura and I took a very casual stroll on a path along the predominant river in Bend. This trail is easy – very flat and well marked for the most part – and can be done by just about anyone. We parked near the Bend REI and walked up to the river, across from the amphitheatre. From there, we followed the trail away from REI, across wildflower areas and under a bridge, until its terminus at Clyde McKay Park. I think the trail may have continued on from there but this was our turnaround point, as we wanted to get a go on our driving for the day.

GPS log forthcoming

Time: 1:10:00

Elevation gain: minimal

Distance: 2.2 miles r/t

Getting there: Drive to the shopping center that features the Bend REI. Park your car and walk towards the river. You will see plenty of joggers and mountain bikers on this path.
