I got out to the West Fork last week and mountain biked the 7 mile paved trail up to Cogswell Reservoir. This trail is pretty easy for the first 6 miles and then ascends steeply towards a helipad. It can be hiked, biked, run, rollerbladed…whatever. The first mile is usually laden with tons of city slickers looking for a nice dip in the West Fork of the San Gabriel River. However, once you past the bridge/1 milemarker, the crowds disappear.
