Laura and I got married on April 2nd and went to St. George, Utah, for our honeymoon. St. George is about 5 and a half hours away and is within a couples hours of multiple state and national parks. On April 5th, we drove 45 minutes to Zion National Park and hiked the Watchman Trail.
There are tons of different hikes in Zion that I’d like to do, but, largely because of Laura’s injuries, we had to stick to easier hikes. The Watchman Trail is about 2 and a half miles round trip (in and back) and about 500 feet of elevation gain. The end of the trail is a lookout that presents beautiful views of Zion and some of the small surrounding towns. It had a bit of traffic; I figured it’d be much more traveled on the weekend than a Tuesday. There are no water sources, but, being that it only took us about 45 minutes round trip, this shouldn’t be an issue for most people. Definitely recommended as an easier hike with nothing technical, though there are some steeper spots.
